In 2017 a John B. Cade collection of narratives at Southern University became available online. The original 1929 set of narratives which were compiled at Southern University were destroyed according to a letter written by Cade on February 13, 1935. The newly available set of narratives is the 1935 Prairie View State College collection. The collection contains 229 narratives from 17 states. Of these 229 narratives 121 describe their house during slavery.
